Low-noise/ Low-vibration pressure reducing unit

Pressure reducing valves or restriction orifice plates have been used in general for piping system to transportliquids. However, cavitation often occurs in the pressure reducing process, depending on their service conditions, thereby raising problems of abnormal noise and vibration, or erosion wastage of pipes.
This unit has been developed to solve these problems. The unit consists of plenty of thin mesh-type plates placed between two porous plates. And the structure of the unit inhibits the occurrence of cavitation to reduce the pressure drop (ΔP) of each mesh-type plate. In other words, the function and performance of multiple orifice plates were combined into one unit. This unit is nowused in general for LNG piping system in LNG receiving terminals.
The unit can also be used for points in which cavitation may cause problems to piping system in fields other than LNG .

  1. To reduce the level of noise and vibration generated completely.
  2. To be well competitive in terms of performance and cost compared with other kinds of low-noise valves.
  3. To enable design of the size and number of meshes in accordance withdesign conditions such as upstream and downstream pressures, and flow rates.
  4. To cover changes in the conditions of flow rates and pressure reducing to adjustithe number of meshes.

The problem of cavitation often occur on the downstream side of the control valves at LNG receiving terminals as follows;

The Pressure reducing unit is usually installed on the downstream side of the control valves as above in order to prevent the occurrence of problems like vibration, noise and erosion.
