The power output of a gas turbine decreases when the suction air temperature of an auxiliary combustion air compressor increases, and the flow rate of air decreases. Therefore, gas turbine cannot be maintained the rated power in the summer. The power of a combined power plant or a gas turbine power plant can be increased substantially compared with conventional systems with a system that cools the suction air with heat recovery from LNG in the summer.
In this system, water used as an LNG vaporization heat source in an LNG vaporizer (open rack vaporizer) is circulated in a loop to serve as a cold source for an suction air cooler, so only electric power for a water-circulation pump is necessary to cover the electric power required for the suction air cooling system.
The suction air temperature can be reduced by about 5 to 10°C with the use of heat recovery from LNG.
