This project was ordered by Kashima Aromatics Co., Ltd., which is a joint venture among JAPAN ENERGY CORPORATION, Mitsubishi Chemical Corporation, and Mitsubishi Corporation, for the purpose of producing with high efficiency aromatic products (paraxylene, benzene, etc.) and light naphtha products, the demand for which is growing rapidly in the Asian region. Kashima Aromatics intends to produce such products using a condensate (crude oil associated with natural gas), effective use of which is required, as the main raw material by introducing Axens’ latest technologies in response to the growing global demand. We have received with regard to this project orders from Kashima Aromatics for large-scale aromatics production equipment. This complex consists of the following three areas: (1) condensate splitters, naphtha desulfurizers, and catalytic reformers, (2) paraxyylene and benzene manufacturing equipment, the heart of an aromatics complex, and (3) off-site utility facilities. Chiyoda carried out the construction of paraxylene and benzene manufacturing equipment, essential equipment for this complex, and also were responsible for coordinating and supervising the above three areas as a whole. We succeeded in minimizing environmental loads, had no accidents or disasters and endeavored for the safety of the construction work in a large construction area where different projects by various companies were going on, and, by using our ingenuity, completed the construction in cooperation with the customer, overcoming the tight schedule of one year from the commencement of work.
