The Chiyoda Group comprises Group companies and field offices in Japan and overseas. Each company’s head office and field offices communicate with stakeholders in conducting ongoing social contribution activities in their surrounding communities.

The Chiyoda Group consistently promotes employment opportunities and technology transfer in Japan and overseas.

- We give priority to using the services of local firms and hiring local workers.

- Community Cleanup Campaigns
We cooperate with local governments and community groups in cleanup campaigns in the Tsurumi and Koyasu districts of Yokohama, where the Company's head office and Koyasu Office & Research Park are located, and in the neighborhoods around field offices. We also make monetary contributions and purchase environment-friendly green electricity according to the number of people participating in cleanup campaigns. In the fiscal year ended March 2011, we purchased 14,000 kWh of green electricity generated by biomass.
- Cleanup Campaign in the Tsurumi District
The neighborhood association where Yokohama Head Office is located holds a semiannual cleanup campaign in which employees from the head office and Group companies, and their families, work as volunteers side by side with residents. In the fiscal year ended March 2011, a total of 176 people participated by picking up trash around the head office and the commuting route to the nearest train station.
- Cleanup Campaign in the Koyasu District
In addition to participating in the cleanup campaign sponsored by Kanagawa Ward, the Chiyoda Group also carries out its own cleanup activities in which interested employees are invited to clean up the commuting route from the train station early in the morning.In the fiscal year ended March 2011, a total of 13 people participated.
- Participation in Local Forest Preservation Activities
As one of its biodiversity preservation initiatives, Chiyoda has joined Foundation Kanagawa Trust Midori to support employees’ forest preservation activities. We also convey information to employees about biodiversity initiatives via the Chiyoda corporate intranet.
- Cooperation with Local Governments
- Chiyoda has disaster prevention agreements with the Kanagawa Ward Office, the local government of the Koyasu district and businesses to cooperate in local relief efforts in the event of a disaster.
- Chiyoda participates in environmental preservation efforts led by the local government where its head office is located.
(Participation in the Yokohama Climate Change Policy Business Conference, registration on the Eco Porto website of the Yokohama Environmental Planning Bureau, registration on the Yokohama Energy Map, etc.)
- Chiyoda conducts observation tours of its energy-saving facilities and opens Company premises to local governments and members of community groups in Japan. After the cleanup campaign in the fiscal year ended March 2011, we hosted a social gathering for members of community groups, and shared fun activities such as an environmental quiz.

Chiyoda Group companies and sites overseas carry out the following activities.

Peptalk Orientation

Care for Life, Save Life
- Chiyoda Malaysia Sdn. Bhd. conducts an annual blood donation campaign. Details are reported in the Group CSR Report 2011.
- In partnership with the Philippine Red Cross, Chiyoda Philippine Corporation (CPh) held a Peptalk Orientation on January 25, 2011 for 58 employees. Peptalk aims to educate employees about the benefits and advantages of donating blood and to encourage them to donate blood voluntarily. In addition to raising the awareness of employees, the event is also a good opportunity to promote the spirit of cooperation/volunteerism in CPh.
On January 27, 2011, a mass blood donation was organized. With the theme “Care for Life, Save Life”, 22 bags of blood were donated by CPh employees and given to the blood bank of the Philippine Red Cross.
- Chiyoda Almana Engineering LLC carried out a beach cleanup on the northern Qatar Peninsula. Details are reported in the Group CSR Report 2011.
- L&T-Chiyoda Limited actively participates in community events, including a marathon.
- At overseas sites, wood used in equipment packaging is used by nearby residents.
